New race formats at the Birkebeinerrennet
The Birken 2019 Skifestival is going to take place from the 9th of March to the 16th, with the traditional Birkebeinerrennet as final & of course high light. But the program contains several competitions & formats in addition. Read the news for 2019.
- The FredagsBirken ski changes name to SkøyteBirken 54 km (skate) and TurBirken ski 54 km.
- SkøyteBirken 54 km (skate) becomes an own race in 2019. There will be age classes for men and women and prizes for the 3 best in each class. In addition, there will be money prizes for the 3 best men and women in total.
- TurBirken ski 54 km will still be a race for the competitor who wants to ski the whole distance over the mountains from Rena to Lillehammer without thinking about it as a competition. In TurBirken ski 54 km you can choose the technique you wish. Both these races (SkøyteBirken 54 km and TurBirken ski 54 km) goes in the same track as Birkebeinerrennet from Rena to Lillehammer.
- HalvBirken ski becomes TurBirken ski 27 km, Friday, March 15th
TurBirken ski 27 km – HalvBirken ski changes its profile, now you follow the original track of Birkebeinerrennet, starting at Kvarstad and finish at Birkebeineren Ski stadium, Lillehammer.
