Communication by the Organisators:

The Sapporo International Ski Marathon has been wholeheartedly preparing for the race to be held on February 2nd. However, the snowfall in December in 2019 was the least since the race started in 1961. The snowfall has still been extremely little in January in 2020. As of now, we have shortages of snow all around the course.

The secretariat is making efforts to earnestly hold the race and celebrate the Commemorative 40th Sapporo International Ski Marathon. However, if we do not get large amount of snowfall, we will not be able to groom the course or make compacted snow. Due to these factors, we may not be able to secure the safety of the participants.

In consideration of the participants’ convenience, we will decide whether to hold the race or not by Sunday, January 26th. If the race is cancelled, we will post the information about how to deal with your entry fee and how to give you your participation prize.

We feel sorry from the bottom of our hearts that we may have caused you inconvenience but ask for your understanding.
