FIS joins the Virtual Racing League
The cooperation between the International Ski Federation and Worldloppet has been fruitful ever since. The marathon skiing elite cup FIS Worldloppet Cup carried out by Worldloppet and its member races and supported by the FIS was the last major common project. Now it is time for a new one: FIS is joining the Virtual Racing League.
100 times around the world
With the we4ski Nordiq App, the FIS has launched a global challenge for the nordic skiing fans across the globe. Everyone is invited to help achieving a common goal: 4.000.000 km! Nordic fans all over the world try to ski four million kilometers – which is 100 times around the world – together in the period between 26th February and 21st March. Participation is for free and easy: Download the App, join a team you want to ski for (we recommend Team Worldloppet, or a team of our member races) and start collecting kilometers.
FIS challenge as exception in the Virtual Racing League
As part of close cooperations between Worldloppet and the FIS the we4ski Nordiq event now joined the Virtual Racing League. “The goal of the VRL and of we4ski Nordiq are similar: Create a strong community of cross-country skiers and motivate people go outside and have fun doing sports. Both very important in these times.”, says Gunnar Zlöbl, Worldloppet’s Communication Manager.
7 virtual events are needed, if a sportsman wants to become a Virtual Racer. The available events are all virtual races organized by Worldloppet member races. we4ski Nordiq, as only exception, now is also a valid event for achieving the Virtual Racer title. So, the participants now have another possibility to come closer to their 7th virtual race.
How to do the we4ski Nordiq challenge for the VRL
- Download the App (iOS or Android)
- Register for the event
- Join team Worldloppet or your favorite Worldloppet race
- Track your activity and enjoy skiing
- Period: 26th February – 21st March
- Discipline: Cross-country skiing, roller skiing
- Distance: As many km you can
- Costs: for free
