30th Edition Of Marchablanca Saves The Season In Argentina

After the nightmare of every race organizer, the worst case, became reality in Tierra del Fuego/Argentina, the venue of the Worldloppet race Ushuaialoppet and the first race in season had to be cancelled due to lack of snow, things turned out to a positive end again. After snowfalls and huge efforts, the OC was able to start the smaller brother of Ushuaialoppet, the Marchablanca.

The Worldloppet silver race added two new names to the winner board of the 21-km-competition in classic style. Male overall was won by Matthias Zuloga, followed by Federico Bianchi and Martin Cicheri, while the women’s category was won by Clarisa Panosseti and accompanied on the podium Giro and Maria Mercedes Mante.

Many hours were worked during the past 7 days to achieve a track that came to 18.5 km. With very good weather and snow to the limit, the Club Andino Ushuaia achieved a track of 18 km. 350 skiers participated, most of them locals, but also some brave Worldloppet Skiers hold out in Argentina to finally get their first race in season.
