Kangaroo Hoppet back in Full Swing
After cancellation for two years due to domestic COVID restrictions, the Kangaroo Hoppet is in full swing leading into a great event this weekend.
It is a special year for the Hoppet as it celebrates its 30th staging since entering the Worldloppet family in 1991. Inaugural Race Director, and current chairman, Allan Marsland is appreciative of the entire community that comes together to stage the event: “The event is run by volunteers and is strongly embraced by all out local community. It is amazing to appreciate everyone who has contributed and participated in the event. Thirty years and still going strong!”.

The event, to be hold on 27 Aug, looks to be one of the best. With great snowfalls and perfect weather forecast for the event the track and preparation will be enjoyed by all participants. Event organizers anticipate a field of close to 1,000 skiers across the three events, which bring together elite racers, citizen skiers, families and beginners.
Race Director, Ben Derrick, is anticipating a smooth event. “Like all event organizers, we closely monitor the snow and track conditions. This year looks to be one out of the box, so we are preparing for a great event.”
Jessie Diggins at Kangaroo Hoppet
Olympic gold medalist, Jessie Diggins, USA and teammate Julia Kern, headline the women’s field of Kangaroo Hoppet. Jessie and Julia have been very popular amongst the Australian skiing community since arriving in Australia to train in the norther summer.
Local hero, Phil Bellingham, is looking the favorite to finally take out the men’s event after four second place finishes.
