Worldloppet-Weather: Easter is coming and the weather welcomes it
Worldloppet Weather-Expert, Niklas Sieger, talks about the upcoming weather-situation in Europe and specially in Norway.
Punctually to the Easter Holidays, the weather over Middle Europe calms down. In other parts, though, it stays changeable. Joachim, an area with high pressure, extends from the British Isles to the southern Baltic. On its southern flank immigrates height vortex of cold air and strong snow- or heavy rainfalls over northern Italy and the French Alps. Also over the central Mediterranean Sea, it is temporarily changeable with showers. From North Sea to the Black Sea, it is thanks to high air pressure mainly dry.
So, if you want to get a lot of sun in the next few days, you have to travel to Middle Europe because Joachim will extend to Middle Europe and bring back the sun here. On the mountains it is still cold, though, so you will find perfectly groomed tracks. You don’t want to go cross-country skiing alone? Then we’ve got something for you. This week the Worldloppet races take place in Norway, at the famous Birkebeinerrennet and we will look at the detailled forecast now.
Birkebeinerrennet is a long-distance cross-country ski marathon held annually in Norway. It debuted in 1932 and has been a part of Worldloppet as long as Worldloppet has been around. On Friday and Saturday there will be races and it is going to be partly sunny, which means that sunny and cloudy phases will change and it will stay dry with temperatures between 3 and 5 degrees in the afternoon. So don’t forget your winter jacket, then everything will be fine, because at both races we can get some wind. So enjoy sun at the week-end, hopefully you can. Winter greets and I do the same – have fun, whatever you do at the weekend!
And yeah, it’s always the same joke at the end of this blog (thanks to the weather which allows me to): The races will be more exciting than the weather – for sure!
