Finlandia Hiihto Ensured With Snowy Winter Weather

Sunny and snowy winter weather in Lahti – Finlandia Ski Marathon will
be raced over 42 km

Good news are arriving us from Finland. Yesterday the OC of Finlandia Hiihto took the decision to confirm 2016’s edition of Finlands Worldloppet race. It will be organized as planned on February 27th-28th. The longest distance will be 42 km on both days, the
shorter courses remaining the same (32 km classic on Saturday, 20km
free on Sunday). The parts which will be left out from the usual 50km are located on the fields between Hälvälä and Orinkarkaus and are not secured enough to ensure proper conditions. There is a total of 3200 registered skiers at this point, but the interest towards Finlandia has been rising since three ski marathons have been cancelled due to lack of snow lately in Europe.

“We are proud and happy to announce that Finlandia Ski Marathon will be arranged also this year over 42 km. We will prepare the course as well as we possibly can”, Finlandia Ski Marathon’s president Juha Viljamaa.

The Finlandia Week will kick of with Children’s Finlandia on Tuesday, followed by Finlandia Sprint team event on Friday. The races on Saturday and Sunday will start at 10 o’clock on both days.
