Worldloppet-weather: Ups and Downs in Europe’s Winter

While the American Birkebeiner gets ready for a great winter weekend with tens of thousands skiers in beatuiful winter landscapes and snowy woods, in Europe the weather is inconstant. Worldloppet’s meteorologist Niklas Sieger about the upcoming weather-situation in Europe:

This week is continuing with changeable weather in Europe. Nearly every day itis snowing a bit, in the South Alps for example about 50 centimetres of natural snow are possible. In other regions the new snow amout is not that big, about 10 to 30 centimetres or even underneath. The sunniest day of the week will be on Thursday, while the weekend will be quite stormy in the Middle of Europe and also quite mild before winter is coming back next week. Temperatures at 2000 m altitude: about -5 degrees , in 3000 m about -10. In the weekend the temperatures climb up to +5 or even more but then next week again they cool down to around 0 or -5. Winter is not over yet – luckily…
