38th Edition of La Transjurasienne This Weekend Cancelled

This is very hard. For the participants, the elite-skiers, the organizers, the whole family of Worldloppet. After König Ludwig Lauf last weekend, now the OC of La Transjurasienne announced the cancellation of the 38th edition of the biggest cross country event in France planned for the upcoming weekend. This decission hits twice as hard, as the race is also the 4th stage of the FIS Worldloppet Cup. But the mild winter gets its next victim. Warm wind and rain set the track under water.

Original Press Release of La Trans’Organisaiton:

The decision was taken this afternoon; La Transjurassienne 2016 will not happen!

Early morning inspection of the start area, of the track and the finish area as well as a long crosses analysis of several weather forecast specialists who predict more precipitation. They all conclude that the necessary conditions to pull off La Transjurassienne in acceptable conditions for our skiers and our sponsors are not present, even after a full week of intense scheming and lining up alternative tracks solutions. There is also the problem of permission; to this date, Trans’Organisation is not in possession of the necessary authorization to proceed with the alternative Track N° 4 giving access to the Massacre forest; an authorization delivered by the state authorities. The Organisation is not ready to relive the delicate experience of the 2011 edition when the decision was taken to proceed without the authorization that came at the last minute.

In full respect for our 4300 expected participants, we wanted to make our decision known as early as possible. Sincere thanks and gratitude go out to all our volunteers, our sponsors, to the local authorities and to all of our service providers; Trans’Organisation thanks you for your comprehension and for your involvement.
