Weather Conditions forced Cancellation of König Ludwig Lauf

The worst case has become true: The track conditions and the weather-forecast in Germany for the next days forced the OC-Team from König Ludwig Lauf to make a hard decission: 2016’s 44th edition of the German Worldloppet, König Ludwig Lauf on the 6th and 7th of February is cancelled!

The lack of natural snow combined with masses of wather on many parts of the track and constant temperatures above 0°C let no chance to prepare proper conditions for the skiers. Until the last moment the organizers tried to save the race. During January they permanently transported snow to the track but now the inconvenient weather circumstances put an end to this efforts. “During the few days with temperatures underneath the freezing point we produced artificial snow and coverd parts of the track with it. In the end it unfortuantely was not enough. Since weeks we had no freezing temperatures anymore here in the Ammer mountains.”, says OC-chief Marc Schauberger.

Many alternatives were discussed but – even if the cancellation is a big economical setback – there was no other way around. The organizers decided to refund 50 % of the entry-fees for all skiers who entered the race acording to the conditions of registration, even though the OC already spent 80 % of the total costs for the bibs, the starting bags, track- and other preparations.

You can find information and refund formular on the official König Ludwig Lauf website.
