Winter is coming back… and is going to stay at least for a few days. Especially until the beginning of next week a few fronts cross the Alps and will bring about 10 to 40 centimetres of natural snow, at the weekend icy air from Russia will bring back the temperatures many of us have missed so far this winter.

In Switzerland and the Northern parts of Austria 40 to 70 centimeters of natural snow are possible until Friday or Saturday. No or not much snow will hit the Southern parts of Europe. But at the weekend very cold air from the North and North-East of Europe will make it’s way not only to the middle, but also to the Western parts of Europe. Even in France we will face around -7 degrees in the afternoons at the weekend, only in the South-West parts of the country it can stay milder with around 0 degrees on Sunday. Everywhere else in the middle and East of Europe – Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary etc. – we will see -10 to -15 degrees even in the afternoons, at night sometimes around -20 for a few days. This cold air has no serious, but just a little drawback: It is very dry air, so snowfalls will go on at the week-end, but at the beginning of next week rapidly decrease and it will get sunny. But this should not be a real problem after the snowfalls from this week. We will see what comes up next week.
