More than 3700 entries for La Transjurasienne
A month from the 4th stage of FIS Worldloppet Cup, more than 3 700 competitors have registered in the Transjurassienne events: 58,7 % in La Transjurassienne 68km FT, 14,5 % in La Transju’Marathon, 6,7 % in La Trans 25FT, 16 % in La Transju’classic and 4,2 % in La Trans 25CT. Among the current registrations 29 nations are represented, also Spain, Hong Kong, Island, Israel.
The elite start-list is growing too: 86 men and 6 women are already signed up. But as La Transjurasienne counts as a FIS Worldloppet Cup stage we can expect more elite entries during the next weeks.
The senior members of La Transjurassienne 68km FT 2016 are currently the 61 year-old Monique Emorine and François Curie with 76 years. But there are even older starters to find in other races on the Transju-weekend. The most senior members of the 2016’s edition are Michelle Robin with 75 years who has registered in La Trans 25CT, and the French-Finish Worldloppet-hero Hannes Larsson. With his 85 years he will not only race La Transju’Marathon (48km FT) on Sunday, but also La Trans 25CT on Saturday! Hannes has deserved 26 times the “Worldloppet Master” title, which means that he has competed in at least 260 Worldloppet events in his live and it seems that he has not enough so far.
Also the 10 active Senators (skiers who competed in all the 37 editions so far) have all decided to take the start of their favorite event once again, for the 38th time. Among them, the Senators Jean-Claude Bernard (Barberaz) and Jean Quillot (Bellegarde) who are ready to take the challenge of the UltraTrans (La TransjuClassi 56 km + La Transjurasienne 68 km FT).
With the latest positive weather news from the Jura mountains, we can look forward to an exciting race weekend around the 14th of February.
