Exceptional conditions for the Gatineau Loppet
We have superb early skiing in Gatineau Park this year. It’s time to get ready for one of the 8 GATINEAU LOPPET events, Canada’s biggest cross-country ski event.
After a successful special event for its 35th anniversary, Gatineau Loppet will be presenting a slightly modified 51 km classic course, starting in Wakefield, at P17.
Following skier comments, here is what the new 51 km classic course has to offer:
– Shorter bus ride from Mont-Bleu High School
– Huge start area
– Arrival at start area 30 to 45 minutes prior to start
– Possibility to wait in your bus for your wave start
– Gatineau Park first-aid personnel
– Superb skiing and scenery
– Numerous feeding stations
– Swix souvenir hat at the finish line
Participants will be using trail 53 from P17, skiing by last year¡¦s start area near the 10 km mark, they will then head down towards Meach Lake on trails 50 and 36, cross Meach Lake road at P11, go up Fortune Parkway, turn right onto trail 1, go left at Huron Shelter and down Champlain and Gatineau Parkways to the finish area at Mont-Bleu High School.
The other races schedule for the Gatineau Loppet this year are:
– Saturday February 15th: 5km, 15km 27km et 51km Classic
– Sunday February 16th : 2km, 10km, 27km et 51km Freestyle
