Record number of children participated in Tartu Maraton children’s races
42nd Tartu Maraton sets new records yet again: children races that were held today brought together 1921 little skiers, last year the number was 1645.
TILLUraces that are meant up to 8-year-olds had 1316 participants. MINImaraton, meant for children 8 years and up, had 605 participants.
“It’s great to see that participation in children’s races is growing each year and what’s especially great is that the event brought together so many different children and even the smallest ones. It was a pleasure to see that the SEB Charity Fund brought children from orphanages, who don’t even have an opportunity to ski. Children’s races are really for everyone!” says Kunnar Karu, project manager of Club Tartu Maraton.
6-year-old Luisa explains why she came to TILLUrace: “Here I learn how to ski and when I grow up I can ski with ease!” Same aged Ursula agrees and adds: “It is so cool!”
With children’s races of 42nd Tartu Maraton Tartu Mini Complex Event 2013 was officially opened. Next children’s event will be held in May 2013 with 31st SEB Tartu Jooksumaraton.
42nd Tartu Maraton is held tomorrow, on the 17th of February and over 8500 people have enrolled to the marathon making it the biggest enrolee number in 25 years.
