Fossavatn Ski Marathon

Snow has arrived in Ísafjörður, and as a result, all is good. Up in the arctic, the day is short now and even though the day is light, the mountains block the sun. Direct sunlight can only be seen on the the mountaintops. Come January, the sun will be seen again in the town and at the skiing area of Seljalandsdalur. High mast lights and headlights are the way to go when darkness sets in.

The organizers of the Icelandic Worldloppet race have made the Fossavatnsgangan Night Race a permanent member of the Fossavatnsgangan family, coming year 27th March. Come year 2025, the night race will be in the same week as the main race, making it possible to do both (or even three if you include the free style race) on the same overseas trip.
