Ski Worldloppet Down Under and get those extra stamps
This year Merino Muster is on the 31st August which is again one week after the Kangaroo Hoppet to ensure skiers can make the most out of their journey to the Southern Hemisphere. Absolutely THE chance to come Down Under to New Zealand and Australia, enjoy skiing during “our summer” and get two stamps in your Worldloppet Passport. The entries for 2024’s event are open now. Early entries will have their names printed on their race bibs.
To come to Wanaka and participate in 2024’s Merino Muster one could either travel on his own, or book a travel package. The second option is definitely the recommended one. There are different packages with different levels of involvement. Basically the following three options are the best:

What to experience when skiing the Merino Muster 2024
When Worldloppet Communication Manager, Gunnar, travelled to Wanaka to do his first Merino Muster, he had his camera with him and produced two Vlog Episodes: Gunnar’s Nordic Adventures at Merino Muster.
New Base Lodge and parking space at Snow Farm
Last season the Merino Muster was effected by the repurposing of the Lodge, the main building for the race. Skiers and organizers had to deal with less than ideal facilities, but with a lot of effort by the staff, the race was run as usual. Excellent grooming and some course adjustments, superb sunshine and the NZ spirit of “we can do it” guaranteed a special race.
This year there will be a new Base Lodge which is well underway. Earthworks have also created a large flat car park for coaches and cars and some adjustments to the track entry to aid access for beginners. The local Council have been very supportive with planning approvals. Additionally there has been financial support from two supportive charities that have a long association with aiding Merino Muster: The Otago Community Trust and the Central Lakes Trust. The Pisa Alpine Charitable Trust owners of the Snow Farm have also used their resources to ensure the building could progress.
