Jessie Diggins and Akito Watabe win Merino Muster 2024
It was a tough night for the organizers of New Zealand’s biggest cross-country ski race: After some mild days with rain, temperatures have dropped and a massive snowfall over night brought more snow. The grooming team had to work through the night to prepare good tracks for the race day. And they did a great job. Jessie Diggins, Julia Kern and all the other 200 skiers enjoyed a perfect skiing day on 42 km, 21km, 14km and 7km. “Conditions were fast and with the sun shining, the fresh snow and such an international starting field… what could have been a better day to ski the Muster?”, says Mary Lee from the organizing team.
