New Plans for Birkebeinerrennet in Case of Challenging Weather
Following two challenging editions of the Norwegian flagship ski race, the organizing committee of Birkebeinerrennet has been hard at work developing alternative racecourses. These courses are designed to ensure the event can proceed smoothly in the event of heavy winds or significant snowfall. “While we acknowledge that weather challenges are becoming the new norm, we’re confident that snow scarcity will not be a concern in the foreseeable future.“, says Hanna Helseth, Birken’s spokesperson.

The alternative routes have been carefully planned to maintain the same level of challenge and memorable experience as the regular course. The team has already identified strong solutions, and detailed planning is underway. This includes preparations for track grooming, food stations, transport, and other logistical elements to ensure a seamless experience.

“With these measures in place, Birken is excited to welcome participants to a secure and unforgettable 54 km Birkebeinerrennet on March 15th, 2025. Don’t miss your chance to be part of this iconic race.”
