Worldloppet returns to Falls Creek with Kangaroo Hoppet 2025
Strong Snow Conditions and International Field
Preparations are in full swing for the 31st Kangaroo Hoppet 2025, which will take place this weekend in Falls Creek, Australia, officially kicking off the new Worldloppet season. Thanks to fresh snowfall and cold temperatures, the racecourse is in excellent condition, promising perfect skiing for the nearly 750 participants from 24 nations who have already registered.

Among the starters will be Australia’s own World Championship medallist Rosie Fordham, along with several Olympians past, present, and future. Entries remain open until 4 pm on Friday, August 22, for those still wishing to join the event.
Exciting New Features for Kangaroo Hoppet 2025
Kangaroo Hoppet 2025 introduces several exciting innovations. A highlight will be the One/Way Hoppet Sprint, a 100-metre timed section in the middle of the 42 km race, offering competitors the chance to battle for bonus recognition and prizes, regardless of overall placement. In addition, the Balance Point Awards, sponsored by Fischer, will honour the skiers who finish in the median position of each event. These unique awards will be presented during the Saturday night celebrations at Mountain Monk Brewery.

The Antipodes Challenge
Another fresh initiative is the Antipodes Award, designed for those who complete both the Kangaroo Hoppet and the Merino Muster in New Zealand within the same year. Finishers will receive a commemorative Antipodes medal, with the opportunity to earn the title of Antipodes Master after five such achievements. Awards will be presented at the Merino Muster prize ceremony, adding an exciting cross-hemisphere dimension to Worldloppet skiing.
