Dolomitenlauf 2026: Fast Racing, International Podiums and a Strong Worldloppet Spirit

The 56th Dolomitenlauf kicked off today in Obertilliach under perfect winter conditions, opening an exciting race weekend for Austria’s oldest popular cross-country ski event and a founding member of the Worldloppet Ski Federation. More than 600 skiers from 34 nations took part in today’s skating races over 20 km and 40 km, enjoying fast, grippy tracks and a true festival atmosphere in the Biathlonzentrum Osttirol. On Friday evening, around 50 Worldloppet Passport holders gathered for the traditional Worldloppet Welcome Gathering, celebrating friendship, international exchange, and the shared passion for skiing.

German athletes dominated the opening day, while Austria and Italy also celebrated strong podium finishes. Extremely fast race times highlighted the excellent track conditions in the Lesachtal, with thrilling sprint finishes in both the 20 km men’s and women’s races.

Beyond the competition, the Dolomitenlauf once again lived up to its reputation as a key Worldloppet meeting point. Several new Worldloppet Masters will be officially awarded following today’s and tomorrow’s races, underlining the long-term journey many skiers pursue within the Worldloppet Passport program.
