Day 2 at König Ludwig Lauf, Norwegian victories at Jizerska 50 & international ski festival in Sapporo

Also the second day of König Ludwig Lauf was a successful celebration of its own comeback. Two years in a row, the race was suffering from cancellations due to lack of snow, but not this year. The skiers of 2026’s König Ludwig Lauf have enjoyed well prepared tracks between Ettal and Oberammergau on both days – Saturday free technique and Sunday classic technique.

Norwegian victories at Jizerska 50

Also in Czechia Worldloppet action has been taking place this weekend: The Jizerska 50 was on the program. It turned out to become a Norwegian Ski festival. At least among the elite.

International ski festival at Sapporo Skimarathon

The 46th Sapporo International Ski Marathon was held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, starting and finishing at Shirahatayama Open Stadium in Kiyota Ward, Sapporo City. The race started under ideal conditions: cloudy weather, snow temperature -5.4℃, temperature -5.4℃, humidity 79%, and no wind. Due to insufficient snow on parts of the course, participants skied along the alternative course. The 50km race consisted of 4 laps of a 10km special course, while the 25km race used 2 laps. Even though we used the alternative course, the Sapporo race successfully ended with the best condition.

Entries came from 17 countries, including EST, FIN, SWE, GER, AUS, CAN, IND, KAZ, and so on. The total number of overseas participants was 135. The total number of participants was 632, with 606 finishers. Additionally, 3 new Global skiers and 15 new Masters were qualified in the Sapporo race. New Global skiers and Masters were given diplomas and medals at the award recognition ceremony: “This was a happy moment also for us as organizers. Such achievements are impressive and we are happy, that the skiers can get their award at Sapporo Skimarathon.”, said Masayo Fujii from the OC.
