Tartu Maraton 2027 moves one week later
The next Tartu Maraton will move one week later than its traditional weekend. The 53rd edition of the legendary Estonian ski festival will be held on 27–28 February 2027.

The date change is due to the IBU Biathlon World Championships taking place in Otepää during Tartu Maraton’s usual weekend. Otepää is the traditional start venue of the marathon.
Tartu Maraton 2027 Program
- Saturday, 27.02
- 31 km freestyle, Vintage and team relay
- Sunday, 28.02
- 63 km and 31 km classic races
All the distances, except team relay, qualify for the Worldloppet stamp – 31 km for silver and 63 km for gold.

Since its 50th anniversary edition, Tartu Maraton has brought freestyle and classic races together into one weekend. “One purpose was to make it easier for skiers with different backgrounds to travel together and take part in the same event weekend,” said the race director Indrek Kelk. “This is especially relevant for international participants, for whom Tartu Maraton is often a shared winter trip rather than a solo race,” he added.

Recent feedback from participants confirms the same. According to the 2026 survey, nearly 80% of foreign participants travelled to Estonia together with someone — friends, family, colleagues or training partners. It also showed that 95 % of foreign participants would recommend taking part in Tartu Maraton to a friend, and 93 % plan to return to the event in the coming years.
