50 Years Dolomitenlauf in Lienz this weekend
Right as the Women Alpine Ski World Cup at te end of December, now is the Dolomitenlauf celebrating 50 years jubileum in Lienz from 16th to 19th January 2020 and with a special news: the return of the Dolomitensprint in Lienz as well as the Classical Technique race that will go from Heinfels to Lienz along the river Drau!

The biggest Cross Country Ski race in Austria, founding member of the international Worldloppet Ski Federation has been always inspired by the following concept: it does not matter if for professionals, amateurs or free-time skiers, for each level and taste the motto is “everyone wins with themselves”.
The Dolomitensprint back to Lienz!
The Dolomitenlauf weekend will kick-off on Thursday 16th January with the “Romantiklauf” in Kartitsch and Friday from 18:00 will see the city center transformed in a xc-ski arena! First of all there will be the opening ceremony, followed by the notorious sprint race.
„After some years in Obertilliach are we going back to Lienz. I am very happy that we manage to organize the oldest sprint of the world in the main square again and we can’t wait for the exciting challenges among the World-cup atheletes”
Franz Theurl, Dolomitenlauf CEO

Round 30 World sprinters will fight on the spectacular curvy track with ups and downs in front of thousands of spectators. A sprint race that can claim to be the oldest of the world, with its 40 years of history, celebrated this year with the 50 years of the Dolomitenlauf. On the day after the Dolomitensprint the event goes on at the Biathlon and Langlaufzentrum in Obertilliach, warming up for the Junior-Biathlon-WM 2021. This is the location of the 42 and 20 km Free-Technique Dolomitenlauf, with start and Finish both at the Biathlonzentrum. Obertilliach has been for over 10 years a snow-guarantee! The xc-ski slopes are already open in November from Kartitsch reaching Ober- and Untertilliach.
The Organising Committee is awaiting around 2000 skiers from 30 Nations!
