Jizerska 50 launches booking in shorter circuits but still hopes for the initial 50 km track

News coming from the Jizera Mountaing, where next weekend the 53rd edition of JIzerska 50 should take place with more than 8000 registered in the different events, 4800 on the main Jizerska race.

Current thaw and rain in Jizera Mountains are making the snow conditions on Jizerska 50 tracks more difficult. The organizers therefor work with the option of shorter circuits that would accommodate all the weekend races completely. The organizers don’t give up on the possibility of longer circuit or even the whole 50 km track though. Everything depends on the weather development.

“The situation is not good, high temperatures and rain destroy both natural and artificial snow reserves. We’re not giving up though, there are tens of people working on the tracks every day. We do everything we can to make the 53rd annual of the race real. This year it’s 50 years from the tragical Expedition Peru 1970, those boys were at the origin of our traditional race. Because of their remembrance we want to do everything we can to commemorate them with the race they loved so much”

Martin Koucký, the Chairman of SKI KLUB Jizerska 50

According to the current situation and considering the weather forecast the organizers decided to prepare shorter circuits for the racers held Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This organizationally concerns the race participants starting from the second wave to the last one of the main race.

“On Monday we’ll send an e-mail to the registered racers enabling the block reservation in which they will hit the track. There will be 11 blocks altogether, starting from Friday evening and lining up among the other races. The last block is planned for Sunday early evening. Everyone can choose the time that fits them the most,”

explains Koucký

The shorter circuits are designated for the participants of all other races as well, including the elite and first wave of 50 km race. Their start will be given and will be scheduled approximately as planned initially. “These racers will receive an e-mail with the detailed information on Monday as well. There is no need to contact the Infoline therefore, the racers should wait for the informational e-mail,” Koucký asks everyone for patience.

The organizers are still not giving up the possibility of more comfortable longer circuits or even the initial 50 km track. “Everything depends on the amount of rainfalls, as well as on the amount of snowing that should come to Jizera Mountains on Tuesday. We’ll continue to monitor the weather development carefully. The final decision will be made until Thursday 5pm. In case of a successful preparation of the whole fifty km track, the races would be realized in full range and the block reservations would be cancelled,” emphasizes the Chairman of SKI KLUB Jizerska 50.
