Around the world for Ukraine

We invite the whole Worldloppet family to join the Ukraine Charity Loppet! A virtual event organized to raise money to help the Ukrainian people suffering under the ongoing war.

“It always have been core values of Worldloppet, to stand for unity, for bridges between nations, for respect and finally for peace!” , explains Juha Viljamaa, Worldloppet President. Now we experience days, in which these values are under attack. We don’t want to be quiet and do nothing, we want to stand for Ukraine and help those who suffer the most from the ongoing war: The Ukrainian civilians.

Therefor Worldloppet has organized the Ukraine Charity Loppet: A virtual event everyone around the world can be part of. You shall track your race with your smartphone or sports watch (for example, with the we4ski nordiq App) and upload the file after completing. All registrants get a printable starting bib and a virtual diploma shareable on Social Media to show your support. All registration fees will be donated to the Ukrainian Red Cross Society in weekly payments.

What do I need to know about the Ukraine Charity Loppet

In case, you want to donate more money, multiple participations are possible. This is not a competition and there are no prizes, however raffle prizes from our partners (e.g. Glasses from Northug Eyewear) will be drawn among the participants.

Of course, the Ukraine Charity Loppet is added to the Virtual Racing League. So if you miss a virtual event for your Virtual Racer title, here is your chance.

We want to highlight, that also Russian participants who want to help and give their support against the war, are welcome to join the Ukraine Charity Loppet.

“Past weekend I have skied the Vasaloppet. It was a great experience and I enjoyed it a lot. But I think many of us had the feeling: ‘Why can we enjoy skiing in this beautiful environment, this amazing event, while others have nothing anymore and fear for their lives?'”, says Gunnar Zlöbl, Worldloppet Communication Manager.

So here is a call to all members of the Worldloppet family, no matter if elite skier or popular skier, if race organizer or series, if European, Russian, American or any other country: Lets stand for the people in need and move! Around the world for Ukraine.

And please make sure to spread the word by sharing our Facebook posting.
