Jizerská 50: A Worldloppet Classic Delivers Drama and Records
The 59th edition of the ČEZ Jizerská 50 once again proved why this iconic race in the Jizera Mountains is one of the cornerstones of the Worldloppet Ski Federation. With dramatic finishes, record-breaking participation and unforgettable atmosphere, the Czech Worldloppet event wrote another outstanding chapter in its long history. Over the race weekend, an impressive 9,821 skiers from 29 countries took to the tracks, underlining the global appeal and strength of Jizerská 50 within the Worldloppet family.




As the second Grand Classics race of the Ski Classics Pro Tour (the first one, was the Italian Worldloppet race Marcialonga), Jizerská 50 offered thrilling elite competition right to the finish line. The proven format with separate starts for elite women and men ensured fair racing conditions and set the stage for high-level sport. Traditional climb competitions added an extra tactical element, with some athletes pushing to their limits on these iconic segments.
Elite Highlights – Photo Finish and Clear Victory
The women’s race delivered pure excitement, decided by a photo finish after an intense final sprint involving six skiers. Anniken Gjerde Alnaes (NOR) successfully defended her title, winning by just one tenth of a second ahead of Hanna Lodin (SWE), with Emilie Fleten (NOR) completing the podium.

In the men’s race, the longer course made fast times even more demanding. Amund Riege (NOR) claimed a convincing victory, crossing the line just over two hours and holding off a tightly packed chase group in a thrilling sprint for the remaining podium places.

Numerous Worldloppet Masters were awarded over the weekend, marking major milestones on their personal Worldloppet journeys. For many recreational skiers, reaching the finish line and receiving the iconic glass medal was a moment of pride and a memory to last a lifetime.

With Jizerská 50 successfully completed, the Worldloppet winter continues. The spotlight now turns to the upcoming Worldloppet races in France – La Transju – and Finland, with the Finlandia Skimarathon coming weekend. New challenges, new Masters and new unforgettable moments await. The Worldloppet journey goes on.
