König Ludwig Lauf 2027: Winter is calling in the Bavarian Alps
After a completely sold-out Summer Edition in 2026, König Ludwig Lauf is already preparing for its next big chapter. On 6–7 February 2027, skiers from Germany and around the world will once again gather in Oberammergau and Ettal. Time for one of Germany’s most traditional cross-country skiing events.
Snow-covered mountains, perfectly prepared trails and the unmistakable atmosphere of the Ammergau Alps make König Ludwig Lauf a special stop on the Worldloppet calendar. After the success of the Summer Edition, the focus now turns back to winter – and from running shoes to cross-country skis.
A race weekend for every kind of skier
Whether you prefer classic or skating, want to take on a shorter distance or are looking for the full challenge, the Winter Edition offers several ways to experience the König Ludwig Lauf.
For 2027, the organisers are also introducing new course options and a more flexible event setup. This gives the event greater possibilities to react to changing snow and weather conditions while maintaining the quality and sporting experience participants expect.
The aim is simple: to offer skiers greater planning reliability and the best possible König Ludwig Lauf experience.
Register early and save
Skiers already planning their winter season have another good reason to decide soon.
The reduced entry fee is available until 31 October 2026, making now a good time to secure a starting place for the February race weekend.
With the event taking place right in the heart of the Bavarian Alps, König Ludwig Lauf can also easily become more than just a race. Oberammergau and Ettal offer the perfect setting for a winter weekend combining skiing, Alpine scenery and Bavarian culture.

The app provides schedules, course information, important event updates and practical race-weekend information directly on your smartphone – helping skiers stay informed before and during the event.
From summer success to winter adventure
The sold-out Summer Edition 2026 showed once again what König Ludwig Lauf is about: sport, community, emotion and shared experiences. In February, that atmosphere returns to the snow.
