News from Estonia: 8th Tartu Relay Marathon and Open Track are cancelled
Due to lack of snow, the pre-events of the 47th Tartu Maraton, the 8th Tartu Relay Marathon and Open Track races, will not take place. The pre-events were scheduled to be held on the 9th of February.
The current winter does not seem to be very ski-friendly and many races were already forced to renounce to take place or to change the date or shorten the course. News in regard to that came today also from Estonia, where the temperatures have not been favourable neither to natural snow nor snow production.
Here under the communication from the Tartu Marathon Organizing Committee:
The current winter has been the warmest and rainiest one in Estonia over the past decades. In January the average temperature is +3,08 °C and there is no snow at all. Furthermore, there have not been any solid minus degrees either, which would have allowed us to produce artificial snow.
All the participants who registered for the pre-events and already paid their entry fee can transfer 50% of fee to the next years Tartu Maraton or for some other Tartu Maraton Cube event that takes place in 2020. Or they can ask back their 50% of the entry fee. Additional info will be given directly to the participants.
47th Tartu Maraton’s main events are scheduled to take place on the 16th of February. The weather forecasts regarding the main races don’t look good, new information about the marathon will be given out next week.
