From the beginning on, all eyes were on the Olympic double champion from Norway, on Einar Hedegart. In the first third of the race he was always in front of the leading group, doing a lot of the leading work, until suddenly he disapeard. The reason was a crash at the legendars Stazer Wald downhill section and a broken pole. But he made his way back to the front group and on the final kilometers it was him again, together with Clement Parisse, Jason Rüesch and others keeping the pace higher and higher. The final stretch Hedegart entered first, but very closely followed by Jason Rüesch, who tried everything to defeat the Norwegian. In the end the favorite was able to win and add the ibex horn trophy to his two Olympic gold medals.
