Bieg Piastow

The Bieg Piastow 50th Anniversary Edition is here

For the first time in history, the Polish Bieg Piastów invites skiers in February. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, this will be a special edition. The event will run from February 14 to 22, 2026, and its program includes many new features.

The event date has been moved from March to February to ensure greater snow security. The program includes 11 races, from children’s to 50 km.

New features: the 15 km FT, the Retro Race with a retro zone, featuring an original military field kitchen that fed competitors in the 1970s. The menu will also be the same as it was back then.

The 50th Bieg Piastów visuals also feature a retro style. You can read about all the race editions and many legendary competitors in the book “50 Years of the Bieg Piastów – A True Story.” There will also be a retro disco, exhibitions showcasing the history of the Bieg Piastów, and meetings with champions past and present.

Competitors will be able to handle all their Worldloppet-related matters at a special, highly visible and marked stand with passports, stamps, and expert service. Winners of the Worldloppet Master title will be invited to a banquet in the restaurant hut next to the Bornit Hotel in the center of Szklarska Poręba.

Something special and very interesting for cross-country travelers will be the meetings with the most frequent Polish racers traveling to Worldloppet races: Andrzej Guziński and Kamil Zatoński. They will not only share their adventures and successes but also provide a wealth of practical information on how to organize independent trips to Worldloppet races.

Registration for the 50th Bieg Piastów is going well – already 6,000 entries from 32 countries on 5 continents are registered. Spaces remain available for all distances.

The Bieg Piastów will be held, as always, in Szklarska Poręba-Jakuszyce, in the Jizera Mountains in southwestern Poland, right on the Czech border and close to the German border. The logistics base will be the Lower Silesian Sports Center Polana Jakuszycka. It’s accessible by car, train, and bus. The bib number issuing office is 50 meters from the train stop and 200 meters from the parking lot and bus stop. Skiers can wait for the start line right next to it in a warm building and leave only when the starting wave is about to set off. After the race, one could immediately shower and relax in the warmth, then celebrate the success in a restaurant or bistro, watching those just reaching the finish line.
