3600 children participated in SEB 32nd Tartu Rattaralli children’s races
Today, on the 1st of June, on the International Children Day, the world’s biggest cycling event for children – SEB 32nd Tartu Rattaralli children’s races took place in Tartu city center. According to the preliminary results, 3603 small cyclers participated in the event.
Commissar of the International Cycling Union UCI and the head commissar of Tour of Estonia 2013 Christian Magiera from Germany was surprised by the scale of the event: “I’m so impressed I can’t imagine that it’s true! That’s why I’m here – to see it. It’s unbelievable! I’m really impressed by the number of children and parents, who are here. It is really impressive!”
Magiera also explained the importance of the race: “I think it’s very important for the future of cycling, for the future of Estonian Cycling Weekend 2013 and for cycling in Estonia. It is a very good event for the children, they are the center of the activity. I like it very much!”
Partner of Jaan Kirsipuu dance instructor Monika Tuvi has participated at the children’s races with his son Samuel for the third time. “Why to come? It’s awesome! Everyone comes here. It’s fun and it’s pure joy of doing things together!” she says.
In TILLUraces (distances 500 meters and 1,1 kilometers) 2220 children up to 9-years took part, in MINIrally (with longer distances: 5,2 and 10,5 kilometers) altogether 1384 little bikers participated.
SEB 32nd Tartu Rattaralli children’s event was the third stage of the yearly Tartu Mini Complex Event 2013 series. The fourth and the final stage takes place in autumn after what a closing celebration event will be held in Tartu Lõunakeskus for all the children participated in the complex event.
Only one hour after the children’s races, Tartu Grand Prix’, the final stage of Tour of Estonia 2013, started at the same spot with international pro cyclists.
SEB 32nd Tartu Rattaralli takes place tomorrow, on 2nd of June.
