4th victory in a row for Nygaard at Birkebeinerrennet 2025
Today 07:45 (08:00 for the ladies) the Birkebeinerrennet started in Rena under clouds and freezing temperatures. The favorites kept the pace high already from the start and a leading group was already formed after the first 20-km-uphill-section. In the end, this year’s edition was decided on the final stretch. And again, it was Andreas Nygaard, the Norwegian showing off his sprint strength and winning. 0,2 seconds behind him, another Norwegian, Amund Hoel and his brother Johan concluded the all-Norwegian podium. Nygaard has won the Birken now the 4th time in a row and 5 times in total.

Ladies Winners at Birkebeinerrennet 2025
In the ladies competition a super strong Stina Nilsson attacked her number one opponent Emilie Fleten 10 km before Lillehammer and created a gap big enough for the victory. And this only two weeks after her brilliant win at Vasaloppet. Anikken Gjerde Alnæs claimed the second place not even four seconds ahead of 3rd placed Emilie Fleten.
