Cross-country skiing in Argentina officially opened

In three weeks it is finally time again for cross-country skiing in Argentina: The Ushuaialoppet, the Argentinian Worldloppet event is going to kick off the season on August 14th. Where? At the end of the world, called Tierra del Fuego. The winter season already has been officially opened there.

The organizing club of Ushuaialoppet, Club Andino Ushuaia together with local partners like Tierra Mayor Winter Center and Cerro Castor has opened the 2022 cross-country skiing season with various activities and offers for winter lovers. The tracks in the Tierra Mayor Valley, Cerro Castor and the “Francisco Jerman” circuit located nearby Martial Glacier area have been opened in great conditions.

In these traditional places where the sport grew, both amateur skiers and elite athletes can use the 6 to 8 km (Tierra Mayor), 6 km (Francisco Jerman) and 2.5 km (Cerro Castor) circuits, plus the C.A.U. school tracks and their facilities.

The Club Andino Ushuaia carried out snow-stepping and compacting works, formalizing the opening of the “Francisco Jerman” Track, with rentals available for beginners who want to take their first steps on skis.
“Learning cross-country skiing is doable for everyone. In the C.A.U., initiation is promoted for children and even older adults so that they can put on their skis and live the experience of sliding on the snow, enjoying a unique natural environment, taking advantage of the geography where the cross country ski tracks are located in healthy and positive sporting activity for body care”, declared Pablo Valcheff, a referent of Club Andino Ushuaia, which is the regional winter sports institution.

The most southern ski race is going to take place again in three weeks, on August 14th. Registration is still possible, if you want to try out cross-country skiing in Argentina.
