International Success and Ideal Conditions at the 48th Gatineau Loppet

The 48th edition of the Gatineau Loppet concluded yesterday under nearly perfect weather conditions, providing an ideal setting for cross-country ski enthusiasts. Smiles on their faces and a strong sense of accomplishment, skiers crossed the finish line in the 2, 5, 10, 27 and 50 km freestyle events on this second and final day of competition.

The 50 km freestyle race was won by Océane Bépoix of Morbier, France in the women’s category, and by Ricardo Izquierdo-Bernier of Montreal, Quebec in the men’s category.

In the 27 km, Sam Currie of Littleton, United States (University of Ottawa) won the men’s race, while Véronique Fortin of Gatineau won the women’s race.

Standing and sitting para-nordic athletes also had the opportunity to compete on the trails of Gatineau Park. As tradition dictates, Sunday’s program also included the 2 km event, the Mini for children and families.

With nearly 2,450 registrations, the Gatineau Loppet once again confirms its status as a must-attend cross-country ski event in Canada. For this 48th edition, the organization was pleased to welcome participants from 20 countries, demonstrating the event’s international reach.

“Everything was there: the electric atmosphere, our Canadian flavours, a great variety of activities and the exceptional quality of the trails in the heart of the iconic Gatineau Park. Thanks to the tremendous work of our executive director, her team and our volunteers, we delivered an extraordinary experience to participants from around the globe. Seeing them leave with such big smiles is the best proof that the Gatineau Loppet ranks among the finest mass participation cross-country ski races in the world,” said Philippe Lebel, President of the Gatineau Loppet Board of Directors.

As the 48th edition comes to a close, the Gatineau Loppet team announces that online registration for the 2027 edition is now open at the best 2026 rate.
