Canada’s first Worldloppet race was called the Rivière Rouge; it was first held in 1979 in Lachute, Quebec. In 1983 the race moved to Gatineau Park and became the Gatineau 55. In 1996 it changed to 50km and was renamed “Keskinada Loppet.” For the 30thanniversary the name was changed to Gatineau Loppet!

The Gatineau Loppet is located in the magnificent Gatineau Park, at only 15 minutes from downtown Ottawa; Canada’s federal capital. 51 km classic race course is point to point race where you will have the chance to see three different area of the Gatineau Park: the rich forest and lakes, the well-known escarpment and the popular parkways. All the way down, you will also have the chance to meet our wonderful volunteers at our feeding stations to fill you up with hot drinks and food. 51 km skating race and shorter races have one loop course, with start and finish next to Mont-Bleu High School.
A Buff is given to everyone who finishes our 51 km C or 51 km F. Other shorter races are also available during the weekend.

HOW TO GET TO GATIENAU LOPPET
By plane: The Ottawa International Airport is located at 1000 Airport Parkway Private, Ottawa, Ontario, K1V 9B4. From there, you can take public transit, a taxi or rent a car from the airport. The other closest International airport is Montréal, a two hours’ drive (200 km) to Gatineau.
By train: The Ottawa train Station is located at 200 Tremblay Road, Ottawa, Ontario, K1G 3H5
By car: Mont-Bleu Stadium is at 10 min. from downtown Gatineau and 15 min. from downtown Ottawa. If you stay into one of our official hotels, a free shuttle is organized to bring you to Mont-Bleu High School before the race and for the return to your hotels after the race.

WHERE TO SLEEP
Skiing the Gatineau Loppet gives you also time to explore the area. In your free time, feel free to discover the others parts of the Gatineau Park by snowshoeing or by cross country skiing. You may also visit lots of museum, the parliament and enjoy the Winterlude Festival, which is held in February on both side of the river (Gatineau and Ottawa). Visit the Byward Market and buy some maple syrup and/or skate on the Rideau Canal, the world’s largest skating rink, and try a “beavertail”. In Gatineau, don’t miss the “poutine”, a traditional meal of the province of Québec, and enjoy great local restaurants and beers!
