Abundant snow awaits thousands of skiers this weekend at the Gatineau Loppet
The Gatineau Loppet, Canada’s stage of the Worldloppet, is ready to welcome participants from around the world to a stunning winter wonderland, with 183 cm of snow this season—well above the seasonal average.

Some 2,400 skiers from 20 countries are set to enjoy the ultimate Gatineau Loppet experience on the breathtaking trails of Gatineau Park, the conservation park that makes this event world-renowned. Gatineau Park currently boasts an impressive snow cover ranging from 18 to 27 cm across the various Gatineau Loppet courses, promising truly spectacular conditions on the trails.
Weather forecasts are equally favorable, with temperatures between –4 °C and –1 °C on Saturday, February 14, and –12 °C to –5 °C on Sunday, February 15. Classic technique events (5, 15, 27, and 50 km) will take place on Saturday, while free technique events (2, 5, 10, 27, and 50 km) will be held on Sunday.
Worldloppet passport holders are invited to the traditional Worldloppet cocktail on Saturday from 4:30–5:30 p.m., featuring Quebec’s classic poutine, appetizers, and drinks. WL passport holders also have access to the Worldloppet Lounge throughout the weekend.
“Dear friends of Worldloppet, we are delighted to welcome you to the beautiful city of Gatineau, just across the bridge from downtown Ottawa, Canada’s capital. If you are planning to join us for this 48th edition, please take a moment to introduce yourself to our Director General, Jérôme Poulin, or to me. And if you cannot attend this year, be sure to mark your calendar—this is a must-experience Worldloppet event. You will enjoy the event’s friendly atmosphere and the warm hospitality of our volunteers and local community. If possible, plan a few extra days to explore the region, which offers many museums and attractions,” says Philippe Lebel, President of the Board of Directors of the Gatineau Loppet.
