Agnellet and Palmer-Leger win American Birkebeiner 2025
Today the 51st American Birkebeiner 2025 has been taking place. After last year’s special 50th anniversary edition on a 10k-loop in Cable, this year the organizers were able to prepare the full original race course from Cable to Hayward.
The famous Hayward main street finish lane got loud for today’s French winner: Gerard Agnellet crossed the finish line 1:30 ahead of US American – and previous Birkie winner – David Norris. After his second place in 2023, now Agnellet is finally standing on top of the podium. Third place goes to another American, to Michal Earnhart.
In the ladies race Sydney Palmer-Leger is leading the all-American podium. She won the final sprint, a second faster than Jessica Yeaton – who won the Birkie in 2020 – and three seconds ahead of third placed Lauren Jortberg.
