Dear Ski Friends,

thank you for your support and understanding considering 38th Bieg Piastów

skiing marathon. Please find below our official statement.

We do not cancel Bieg Piastów races, all distances will be shortened.

Despite warm spring weather, present February, we are planning to organize 

all events of 38th Bieg Piastów cross country skiing festival (22.02-2.03.2014).

We are forced to cancel only 30 km FT race. The others events will be held in 

changed formula and on shortened distances. However, the FIS Marathon Cup is cancelled (the cup, not the classic technique race).

In the beginning we would like to underline, that till Friday 21st of February, till 8.00 am all registered competitors 

of the 38th Bieg Piastów for 15 km, 26 km, 50 km in classic technique have time to undertake decision if you take part in shortened race or 

you wish to transmit your entry fee to the next 39th Bieg Piastów in 2015.

Current snow situation. 

Snow conditions are challenging in many places on the course snow is dirty and icy. 

Weather forecasts are non optimistic, there are slight chances for snow fall. That is the reason why we took following decissions:

1. We want to conduct 38th Bieg Piastów with all planned races, despite 30 km FT.

2. All race courses will be shortened and any of planned distance will not be longer that 12-14 km. 

    Because of that fact, we will not be able to stamp Worldlopet passports. 

3. We want to organize races on different parts of the accessible course to avoid overmuch course exploitation for 9 days of cross country skiing festival. 

    For today we have FIS homologated courses prepared for the FIS World Cup and touristic courses (Samolot, Cicha Równia and around, Górny i Dolny Dukt to         Kopalnia) 

4. Start area will be located on Polana Jakuszycka, not on the Polana Maliszewskiego. 

    Start procedure will be changed into “Le Mans” start with 5 minutes gap between each group. 

5. On the whole course length maximum 2 tracks will be settled. 

6. No FIS race on Friday 15 km CT. 

Summarizing 38th Bieg Piastów in 2014 is rather recreational, against all odds and spring weather during this winter, not only in Lower Silesia, but also in other parts of the Europe.
