Bjoern Daehli & the world skiing elite at the 45th Marcialonga
For the 45th time already it is time for Marcialonga. The Italian “long march” in the valleys of Fiemme e Fassa will concretely get on the snow next Sunday 28th January and a good amount of skiing- and sport stars will show up at the start of the 2018 edition.
Most successful cross country skier of all time at Marcialonga
Among the 7.500 registered athletes who will run the 70k course from Moena to Cavalese, there will be the most winning athlete in xc skiing history Bjoern Daehlie, the reigning Marcialonga champion and winner of the past three runnings Tord Asle Gjerdalen, 2016’s ladies winner Britta Johansson Norgren, the Olympic and World gold medallist, and two times Marcialonga winner Anders Aukland (he won in 2004 and 2008), plus big names such as Jerry Ahrlin, Jörgen Brink, Toni Livers and Stanislav Rezac.
Former champion road racing cyclist Paolo Bettini also booked his place at the start of this year’s Marcialonga, and so did former super-champions Harri Kirvesniemi (FIN) and Terje Langli (NOR), plus former rallycross driver Marcus Grönholm (FIN).
Skiing for everyone at Marcialonga
Yesterday, Marcialonga of Fiemme and Fassa opened its 45th edition with the young skiers on the track. Marcialonga Baby was the first race of this weekend of cross-country skiing that will culminate with the historic ski-marathon on Sunday from 7.50 am (elite ladies) and from 8 am (elite men). Today the Marcialonga Story, a fascinating revival with vintage skis and clothing, and the Marcialonga Stars for charity in favour of LILT (Italian cancer league), Minimarcialonga and Marcialonga Young: all events dedicated to young people.
A big open ceremony entitled “SciVolando” will be held tonight in Molina di Fiemme with Maurilio De Zolt as guest, four times winner at Marcialonga.
