Busin and Kettunen triumph at Dolomitenlauf Classic Race 2025

The 55th Dolomitenlauf concluded today with the classic style races over 21km and 42km, marking a spectacular end to Austria’s largest cross-country skiing event. Over 1,000 participants from 34 nations enjoyed perfect weather, challenging courses, and top conditions in Obertilliach’s Biathlon Center.

Lorenzo Busin Claims the Classic Crown

Lorenzo Busin of Internorm Trentino delivered a stellar performance in the 42km classic race. A tactical attack on the final climb earned him his third Dolomitenlauf victory, crossing the line just 18 seconds ahead of teammate Francesco Ferrari. Finland’s Veli-Matti Räsänen completed the podium. Austria’s Simon Kugler was the best local finisher, placing 14th.

In the women’s 42km race, Finland’s Oona Kettunen outpaced her compatriot Heli Heiskanen for the win. Local skier Anna Schmidhofer finished third, expressing gratitude for the support from family and friends on the course.

Austria’s Niklas Walcher impressed with a third-place finish, highlighting the event’s mix of international and local talent.

In the women’s 21km race, Sweden’s Maja Stefansson rebounded from yesterday’s narrow defeat to claim victory, finishing over four minutes ahead of Italy’s Thea Schwingshackl. Local favorite Eva Schmidhofer celebrated her third-place finish, capping a dream weekend with podium finishes in both disciplines.

Next stage in Worldloppet is going to take place next weekend, some hundred kilometers to the south: The Marcialonga.
