Children’s Race at Tartu Maraton Will Take Place
Due to the lack of snow this winter combined with rain and warm air, the organizers of Tartu Maraton had to announce the cancellation of this year’s edition of the Estonian Worldloppet planned for the upcoming weekend. But the OC decided today that because of favorable snow conditions, the children’s events of Tartu Maraton will take place on Saturday, 20th of February in Tartu, Tähtvere leisure park.
“Fortunately, in Tähtvere leisure park we have artificial snow courses and last weekend’s snow falls have covered them with 5cm of natural snow. This means that Tartu Maraton children’s events can take place,” said race director Indrek Kelk.
As the snow conditions are not perfect, distances had to be changed a bit. TILLUrace (from 3 to 7 years old) distances are 400m, 500m and 1km. MINImarathon (7 years and older) wil take place on a 1km or a 1,8km loop. TILLUraces will start on Saturday at 11.00, MINImarathon will begin at 12:25. Participation in the Tartu Maraton Children’s events is free.
