Cross-Country Ski Season Opening at the End of the World

Since Worldloppet has settled in Tierra del Fuego/Argentina, so-called the end of the world, the nordic industry there is growing and growing. The Ushuaialoppet is the Argentinian Wordloppet member and seems to be ready for opening the marathon skiing season.

Already more than 25 kilometres of trail has seen the start of grooming operations around the Earth’s southernmost city.  Six kilometres at the Francisco Jerman and 20 kilometres in the Valley of Tierra Mayor have been in a regular state of grooming and skiing since June.

The groomed circuit in the Valley of Tierra Mayor, about 30 minutes outside of Ushuaia, links all the valley’s winter centres including Cerro Castor Alpine area, Ushuaia Blanca, Las Cotorras, Llanos del Castor, and Tierra Mayor/Nunatak.

Pablo Valcheff, CEO of the Ushuaia Loppet points out that the racecourse, which is located just minutes from Ushuaia is in best condition. Soon the first international skiers will come to Tierra del Fuego for the Ushuaialoppet, taking place on the 18th of August. The best way to enjoy the natural beauty of the austral winter & to collect the first stamp of the season in your Worldloppet Passport.
