Dario Cologna goes Marcialonga

THE 70K TRACK GETS CONFIRMED

While the Organizing Commitee of Italy’s biggest skimarathon and thousands of volunteers managed to whiten over 50 km of the traditional 70 km long track, the Marcialonga President Angelo Corradini and General Director Gloria Trettel proudly announced that the traditional track will be ready in time, despite the poor snowfalls so far, and the “long march”, all the way from the town of Moena to the finish line in Cavalese, will be at its best for the 43rd time in history on 31st of January.

Dario Cologna in Val di Fiemme

Since ages the Marcialonga counts as one of the greates winter-sport events, what makes many skistars to gather in Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa for this race. This year there will also be Dario Cologna among them. The Olympic and World champion from Switzerland will join the event for the first time in career and, almost needless to say, the battle against all the opponents will be spectacular. Cologna was the first Swiss ever to win an overall World Cup title (2008-2009), he grabbed three Olympic golds, one in Vancouver and two in Sochi, he won the Tour de Ski three times and seized one gold and one silver medal at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2013 in Val di Fiemme. He also collected victories in FIS Worldloppet Cup (former FIS Marathon Cup): He won his home race, the Engadin Skimarathon, two times.

‘This is a fantastic news for us and for the whole cross country skiing movement – Corradini said and added – I’m sure Cologna and the thousands of skiers heading to Val di Fiemme and Val di Fassa on 31st of January will enjoy themselves a lot.’
