Demino Ski Marathon almost fully booked out
Only one month is left before the biggest ski marathon of Russia – the Rostec Demino Ski Marathon kicks off. The online entry is still open with only 170 slots left for the main 50 km FT race and 25 km CT race fully booked.
Perfect weather for Demino
Winter season 2016-2017 brings perfect weather conditions for Demino: snow reaches 1 meter on some spots of the marathon course! One month before the event, the organizers do not worry about the lack of snow looking back to the cancellation of the marathon in 2014. Though some Worldloppet family members suffer from bad snow conditions, Demino happily observes reassuring weather forecasts for the beginning of March.
This year the Rostec Demino Ski Marathon will take place at the same weekend as Bieg Piastow in Poland and Vasaloppet in Sweden but still there’s more interest from skiers to Russian marathon than ever. Usually, there was a number of bibs that could be purchased on race days, but in 2017 organizers expect fully booking for the main race before the online entry officially closes.
Famous international starting field
Skiers from 55 regions of Russia from Murmansk to Kamchatka will gather together with representatives of 15 countries, including New Zealand, USA, Japan, Great Britain, and EU countries on the start of the Demino marathon. More than 60 Worldloppet Masters have already registered for the marathon weekend, with a unique woman 12xMaster Lyudmila Kolobanova among them. Organizers will prepare a welcome party for the Masters with refreshments and surprises. Nikolay Zimyatov, 4 times Olympic Champion, and Alexander Zavialov, 3 times Olympic medallist and World Champion, will be among honorable guests. Olga Rocheva, last year’s winner will compete in the main race to be on the podium again.
As this year the Demino Ski Marathon will take place for the 10-th time, the Organising Committee prepared special anniversary finisher medals keeping the design in secret. The government of the region supports the biggest marathon of Russia and makes a lot of efforts to show local hospitality for the skiers.
