Engadin Skimarathon

Different start but same passion for this weekend’s Engadin Skimarathon 2024

The heavy snowfall and mild temperatures of the last two weeks have made it impossible to prepare the cross-country tracks for Engadin Skimarathon 2024 on Lake Silvaplana.

Water and slush a knee deep cover the ice layer of Lake Silvaplana. This is making it impossible to prepare the cross-country tracks between Sils and Silvaplana. For that reason, the start of the Engadin Skimarathon 2024 has to be moved to Silvaplana. The new distance from Silvaplana to S-chanf will be between 38 and 40 kilometres.

The changes will not greatly affect the starting modalities for the participants. The starting times remain unchanged. The shuttle bringing the racers to the start and the transfer of their personal belongings stay in place. The Engadin Skimarathon website always has up-to-date information about the new starting points. “We want our participants to be affected as little as possible by the difficulties we encounter in preparing the cross-country tracks,” Menduri Kasper explains. “So, we are doing our very best to put in place the best possible infrastructure for our participants in the short time we have. No matter the circumstances, participating in the Engadin Skimarathon should be a great experience and become a beautiful memory.”
