Dolomitenlauf – ‘Everyone is a winner over themselves’

From 16 to 18 January 2026, Austria’s largest cross-country skiing event, the Dolomitenlauf, will once again take place in snow-covered Obertilliach in Osttirol. The international competition, which can look back on over 50 years of racing history, now attracts over 2,000 athletes from all over the world, including, once again, Norwegian Worldloppet star Petter Skinstad.

Under the motto ‘Everyone is a winner over themselves’, Olympic champions, world champions, professionals and amateurs take on the sporting challenge over 21 or 42 kilometres in classic and/or free style. The venue for this legendary winter sports event is the romantic mountain village of Obertilliach  with its legendary Nordic centre, the highest village in the Osttirol Lesachtal valley at 1,450 metres above sea level.

The cross-country skiing hotspot of Obertilliach always has a snow-sure track, both for the skating competition on 17 January 2026 over 42/21 km and for the race on Sunday, 18 January 2026, when the traditional Dolomitenlauf classic style race over 42/21 km will take place. In addition, the 56th Dolomitenlauf will once again feature a Dolomitenlauf Easy Race over 5 km in free or classic style – a chance to get a taste of the fascinating world of Nordic skiing.

The aim is to offer even less experienced cross-country skiers, children and young people the opportunity to experience the atmosphere of a public cross-country ski race. They will all be rewarded with a Dolomitenlauf medal and a certificate at the finish line. There is no entry fee for children up to the age of 14.
