Estonian Cycling Weekend brought together over 7600 cyclists

Estonian Cycling Weekend that consists of popular race SEB 32nd Tartu Rattaralli and UCI 2.1 stage race Tour of Estonia that brought together more cycling fans than ever before – altogether 7673 people crossed the finish line of the events of Estonian Cycling Weekend.

SEB 32nd Tartu Rattaralli took place on the 2nd of June with 135 and 65 km distances – there were 3945 finishers. Children races that took place day before brought together 3604 children making the event unique in the world.

There were representatives from almost 30 different countries who took part in SEB 32nd Tartu Rattaralli.

Estonian Cycling Weekend included also professional races Tour of Estonia 2013 that brought together 124 riders from 17 professional cycling teams. Level of the teams was even – continental teams showed that they are as strong as pro-continental teams. The very first Tour of Estonia was won by Gert Jõeäär who belongs to Cofidis professional team, but during the tour he raced for Estonian National Team.

Race director Indrek Kelk concludes big cycling weekend: “The main aim of Tour of Estonia is fulfilled – get the attention to cycling. The fact that most of the professional team started side by side with thousands of cycling fans on the Tartu Rattaralli, shows that the popular race is also important to elite racers. Estonian Cycling Weekend was a success and I hope that thanks to that even more people find their way to cycling sports.” 

Estonian Cycling Weekend started with Tour of Estonia on the 30th of May and culminated on the 2nd of June with popular race SEB 32nd Tartu Rattaralli.
