FIS Worldloppet Cup staging at La Transjurasienne tomorrow
The Worldloppet family is split up this weekend. One part travelled to the Jura mountains in France, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of La Transjurasienne and see the FIS Worldloppet Cup stage 4, the other part is visiting the Czech Republic for the Jizerska50.
FIS Worldloppet Cup stage 4 – Transjurasienne
The first three races of the FIS Worldloppet Cup 2019 have been exciting: Vasaloppet China, the Dolomitenlauf in Austria and the snowy König Ludwig Lauf in Germany. Tomorrow the marathon skiing elite is going to fight for the 4th time this season for valuable points for the overall cup ranking. 68 kilometers of free technique skiing is standing on the program for the elit of the FIS Worldloppet Cup. Strong names are on the starting list, with two lokal teams as big favourites: Agnellet Gerard, the current FIS Worldloppet Cup leader and his teammates from e-liberty Ski Team, like Loic Guigonnet & Damien Tarantola and on the other hand we have the marathon elite skiers from team Jobstation Rossignol: Bastien Poirrier, Adrien Mougel, Benoit Chauvet etc. They are going to fight against international elite skiers like Petter Soleg Skinstad from Norway and Toni Livers, who is going to ski for the Swiss National Team.
For the ladies, Maria Gräfnings from Sweden – SAS Pro Team – once more is counting as the big favourite. She won the first and second stage and finished second last weekend at the König Ludwig Lauf. Tomorrow she is going to try to defend her red bib against Seraina Boner (SUI, Jobstation Rossignol Team), Tatjana Mannima from Estonia, Anouk Faivre-Picon, France, and other strong skiers.
French victories at today’s Transju’Classic race
Today the first competitions of the French Worldloppet weekend were taking place. This Saturday (9th Feb) Classic technique was on the program with 25 km and 56 km. This year the organizers had no problem to prepare the original tracks. Still now the snow layer in the Jura mountains is counting at least a meter. Even though the classic race day was accompanied by light rain falls, the conditions were good. The victories in the main race are going to French elite skiers Antoine Auger and Marie Kromer, both skiing for the proteam e-liberty Ski Team.
Jizerska Padesatka taking place tomorrow
While we are going to follow the hot battles between the elite skiers of the FIS Worldloppet Cup, here in France at La Transjurasienne, a second Worldloppet race is going to take place tomorrow: The 52nd Jizerska Padesatka in the Czech Republic. The 2019 edition of the traditional Czech popular skiing races is going to break the records: 4.800 skiers are going to take part in tomorrow’s 50 km race, with only 100 bibs remaining for late registrations. Since the Czech Worldloppet race is also part of the Ski Classics, a very strong elite group will be found on the starting line: Morten Eide Pedersen – who just won the König Ludwig Lauf last weekend, Andreas Nygaard, Anders Aukland and Britta Johansson Norgren and local faces like Stanislav Řezáč, Honza Šrail and Kateřina Smutná are just a few of the elite racers who will ride the peaks of the Jizera Mountains on Sunday.
Will Pedersen achieve his fourth victory? Will Smutná hear Czech fans’ cries for a third win? Or will a different racer be the first to cross the finish line at the stadium in Bedřichov? Will the Scandinavians continue their dominance in the Ski Classics series? There are a lot of questions ahead of Sunday’s start. We will get the answers shortly before noon when the fastest racers reach the finish line of Jizerska Padesatka. Follow both races on our social media channels live!
Weather good but demanding for Jizerska race day
Jizera Mountains will influence the warm front on Sunday and the cold front at the night. Clouds will prevail and mild rain or drizzle can be added during the morning. Morning temperatures will be near zero, but it will begin to warm up during the morning, mainly around Bedrichov. It will be warming up during the afternoon hours, when the cloud can also break out and the sun shines from behind the clouds.
On the ridges, the afternoon temperatures rise to +1 to +3 °C and around Bedřichov from +3 to +5 °C. Rain will be added in the evening. During the night it will be slightly freezing, the snow will harden, but in the morning, with the warming up, the snow will soften and for the racers the route will be more demanding.< Back
