French team strives for FIS Worldloppet Cup victory

On Monday, the 2nd of November, over 150 individuals from the world of cross country skiing met at the Rossignol headquarter in the French Saint-Jean-de-Moirans near Grenoble. They attended the presentation of the 2015/16 team of Team Rossignol Gel Interim.

Last season, Team Rossignol played a key role in Worldloppet, especially in the FIS Worldloppet Cup (former FIS Marathon Cup). From the overall cup ranking of 2014/15, three out of the top five are part of this season´s Team Rossignol: Benoit Chauvet, the 2nd, Toni Livers the 3rd and Adrien Mougle the 5th. Additionally, Chauvet won last year’s La Sgambeda and Livers claimed victory in last year’s Dolomitenlauf and Ugra Skimarathon. All in all, the ten athletes of the team won three Marathon Cup stages and secured a spot on the podium seven times.

This season the team strives for even more: “The goal is simple: Win the overall general ranking of the FIS Worldloppet Cup, the true World Cup of long distance races!” was proclaimed during the presentation. The ambitious goal this year could be achieved with the three elite skiers, yet in the seasons to come, an increase to eight professional athletes is planned for. According to nordic-online.ch Toni Livers additionally wants to go for victory in the Vasaloppet.

To provide the perfect environment for their athletes, before and after the competitions, the team acquired a brand new bus. However the Team Rossignol bus is not an ordinary one as we know from the national teams, it is more like a living room, furnished with couches including a relaxing atmosphere. The goal was not to create a cocoon where the athletes would be isolated, but an open space for everybody to serve as a communication facilitator.

As the Team Rossignol Gel Interim will compete at many Worldloppet races, we will have plenty of chances to see the bus and the athletes at the trails. It will be then when their high ambitions will be put to the test!
