Jizerská Padesatka

The only exception by the Czech Ministry of Health was given to the professional events of Jizerska 50 because their participants are regularly tested. They will compete today, Friday 12th, in a sprint event and on Sunday 14th the 50 km CT main race. The Jizerska 50 is one of the “Grand Classics” events of the Ski Classics series. This was one of the strong arguments for letting the race take place.

It is mainly the participation of hobby skiers, that make Jizerska 50 what it is. Organizers are aware of their disappointment at not having the race in the format they are familiar with. That’s why they’ve come up with the option of a virtual race for which all those who have managed to register for the 54th edition of the race are automatically signed up. It also opens the possibility to those who weren’t lucky and couldn’t register, but who can join now too.

This way, people from around the world can take part in Jizerska 50, anywhere from 6th February to 28th February 2021. There is also a category for those who cannot set out on skis, but like to spend time being active in the open. Thanks to the virtual race we are be able to continue in the more than 50-year history of Jizerska 50 at least at a distance and commemorate the climbers of the 1970 Peru Expedition.
